I’m in for Saturday as well. I can make the trip to Hartwell or Westpoint if that’s the group consensus. Anyone know what the lake levels are like?
Not sure about Hartwell but West Point levels are down about 4ft, You’ll be okay as long as you stay a few boat lengths away from the shallow water markers with a foil, With a fin you won’t have to worry at all.
Hartwell is tempting. Further but a touch warmer and windier. West Point is a couple of degrees warmer, too.
Where do you sail from on Hartwell?

Clayton, the cases for going elsewhere have dwindled - at least according to the GFS.
Take a look at the wiki for sailing spots for both lakes -
West Point really only has two choices: Schaefer Heard for anything SW, W, NW, other side of the dam for everything else. They usually let it out about 4-6 ft in the winter but that's not a big issue like it is at Allatoona because you're sailing in the big part about the dam. Just mind Alan's advice - all the slopes are more gentle underwater there unlike Lanier.https://windsportatlanta.com/wiki/West_Point_Lake
Hartwell - Long Point is good on most everything except directly west. Elrod Ferry is good on W, NW (and maybe on NE - I forget) They close Long Point sometimes in the winter so go to Elrod instead. Green Pond Landing is good on W especially SW, and W if you can get down to the main channel. There are other spots, too. Hartwell looks to be about 3 ft below full pool right now. Also note that it, like West Point, also slopes more gently underwater. https://windsportatlanta.com/wiki/Hartwell_Lake
The other day when it was only in the high 30s (air temperature) Tony was at Old Fed alone when Hamdi and I showed up.(i didnt decide to go until I got a text from Hamdi that he was going.) I mentioned/suggested when it's cold and/or kind of iffy wind, you should let people know when you're actually going. Someone may be on the fence about going but decide to go if they know someone else is going, and for saftey reasons. Also, I live fairly close and sometimes may ride by to check on sailors even if I dont plan on sailing.
Speaking of safety, should we maybe have an emergency contact list somewhere? Maybe the webpage? When I've sailed new places where no one knows me, I used to put on the dash "In case of emergcy, Contact ....
I do plan on sailing today, Old Federal, after lunch.

Hey Tony,
Can you give the link for that forecast. I like the way the present speed and wind direction.
What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
I am in.
I am ok with Lanier but I would prefer somewhere a bit warmer

I am agreeable to drive and extra hour or so for some 5 degree warmer air/water this time of year.
About that consensus thing... hmmm...uhhhh... this group....uhhh

The wind is kinda underperforming this morning.
