Quick Hatteras Update Week 1

Lisa & I didnt hurry to get up here on Sun because the forecast was calling for SW 10-15, so we came in Sun Nite. Most of the rest of the our group came up Fri nIte, and sailed Sat & Sun of 6.5s and 5.8s both days with the same SW10-15. Mon called for SW 10-15, I sailed the 5.9 on the 105 ltr board, then went to the Wild (80 ltr) board, sailed all day. It was nice, warm, good wind direction, and (too) flat water. Tues forcast was to start out SW 10-15 and then slack off. I was on the water about 8:30, sailed about an hour or 2 (alone) then it started slacking off, I went in, the rest of the house came out on 6.5s to 7.8 (pip), but it went on down to nothing. The rest of the day, I took it easy, got sunburned, organized etc.

The forecast for the next few days looks good. I'll try to save some wind for next week when the Atlanta group gets here.

Gene

PS, Gene's Consignment SHop is closed for the next 2 weeks, (I'm not returning phone calls).

Gene,
Is it warm enough to be in a swimsuit or are you in a shorty?

Wed report - Still warm & windy, SW wind, started on 7.0 sail until lunch, then to 5.2. Sail sizes for group were 4.7 (Big Al) to 6.4 (Pip). More ramps .

Forecast still looks good.

Patrick, air temp is good but everyone is wearing shorties, I actually wore my big suit Tues morning early. It is weedy.

Final update of week 1 - (Atlanta Club group arrived (& sailed) Sun

Thurs - sailed 5.9 then later sailed 8.5
Fri - sailed 7.0 then a real good 5.2 session late afternoon.

Wind had stayed SW all week, very nice.

Sat - wind turned NE, blew the water out, I didnt sail, tired from 5.2 session day before and didnt want to walk. Walley sailed a 5.8 for an hour or so, eveyone else recouped.

THen Sunday, Atlanta group arrived, Patrick wasted no time and was sailing immediately, the rest of the group was right behind him. It was the big stuff, wind was changing to SE, very warm but the sails were the big stuff. Danny J was on his 10+ and start, I sailed a borrowed 9.9 on the start, and it was a handfull.

Monday afternoon and Tues morning are forcasted to be Windy, Monday Morning (now) it's still pertty lite.

Another update - (since no one else has posted anything)

To welcome the atlanta group, We had a real, real good day on Monday!!!! I sailed my 7.0, then 5.2, then 4.5. All day long, what a day. It really blew, and the whole group was out having a big time.

Tues it came up late, (atlanta group sailed, I didnt make it), and Wed it blew in the morning (I was a sail size off, too little). Today, Thurs, doesnt look good but hopefully the wind will be back tomorrow.
