Greetings from the Windy Plains!
Yea, its so windy out here, we actually have an hour long video production on the local windsurfing and kitesurfing scene. It's kind of like our own local version of "Step Into Liquid".
To be honest, the wind died out here last week -- about three days before Bill H. arrived. Before his arrival, it blew for 15 or more for two months straight! Bill leaves towmorrow, so maybe the wind will come back....
You can check out the video on-line at the link below, or get the DVD from Bill when he returns (I sent a copy back with him for the club library). You might also check out the footage at about the 16 miniute mark in the Video -- The guy with the white helmet and the red, white and blue sail is Bill. Yes, he's a star! The footage is from April of 2003.

Scott: How about some driving directions to the lake and to the launch site. Post them here.
Clue me in Scott. I just looked up "Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma" and it said no jetskis, no swimming. Are windsurfers ok??
Are you serious David? Of course windsurfers are OK.... Read it and weep (and think about the last time we even got one day of 5.0 sailing).

Swiming is not allowed on Lake Hefner, but windsurfing and kitesurfing are allowed. The local windsurfers actually helped design the launch site. The prevailing wind is from the South and the launch site is located on the north-east corner of the lake. The lake itself is located just northwest of the city on Lake Hefner Pkwy (also called Hwy 74). See attached website.

Well, Scott says it is best in April and May. I do my dirt bike trip in June. So there is a conflict of one month. Unless I go to OKC in late May and ride Colorado in early June. Only problem is that there may be snow on the ground in Co. in early June. This year we went to Co June 10th and we did get stopped by snow once. Also, April should be a good month on Lanier but May is very questionable.
