So I'm not the only one! If Balz Muller can't make wing-surfing look cool, nobody can. Nea

First one I've seen on Ebay. There was one on Windsurf Classified for a while also. Min. bid $490.

The clones/copies are on ebay now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Foldable-Windsurfing-Inflatable-Kite-Kiteboarding-Wing-for-Water-Land-Flying/333332685767

From what I've read, getting a wing with a window is super important. Otherwise you are basically blind to anything downwind. I can see the ebay clones being bought by SUPers but I'd hesitate to use one for foiling, etc (just me, spend your money as you see fit).

Quote:
regarding wingfoils

Yesterday was 2 wingfoilers, Dan and other person. Saw that Dan was more observant surrounding than other one.

Other person was with red wing. I was going upwind on port side. Wingfoiler on starboard broad reach. He was not changing direction at all, saw him far far away. I know he has right of way. I was watching him all time and see he can't see me at all, due his wing covering all my upwind ange or even more.

I passed him in front maybe 20-30 feet, than I hear loud startled "Wow, I'm on wing can't see you..." and something else.

Moral of this story, pay attention to wingfoilers, they have small windows, front portion of wing covering lots of in front of them and makes blind spot for them.

Re: Naish Wingsurfer

That only seems like a problem if you sail in places where there are other sailors and boats...... Lol My motto is "If I can see them, they are too close." Does look like they copied the worst one - the F-One. At least it looks like they put some dihedral in the wing - the earlier one I posted didn't. Not sure though.

Here's another option, costs a lot less but I think it takes a lot more skill. Relaunching is a problem.

Thanks, Randy. I felt like I was watching a lost episode of Love Boat starring our own Dave D. Biggrin

I think using a small kite like that has potential - hooked in and controlling the bar with one hand. After that soundtrack, though, I need a rinse

That's actually a 6 meter kite - bigger than most of the wings, but it was designed for single-handed use. Mainly for skateboards.

I can't find those exact listings - all the listings I found had about the same price. I don't see how any of this invalidates the EMH. For one, there is little reason to believe that sporting goods for niche sports represent an efficient market. EBAY is most certainly not an efficient market for many types of things. I bought a kite from a factory in China once for $99, flew it a few times and sold it for $150 or so on EBAY.* If you want to try your luck -

Re: Naish Wingsurfer

It was said somewhat in jest but clearly some market participants are ignoring the pricing signals of other market participants ie listing an identical and somewhat commodity item 15% higher in price in relatively the same time period. Or, perhaps they are hoping potential buyers are ignoring all available information which is what the EMH suggests they don't do. Biggrin

Good news for you, Randy, is the price has dropped under $360. At this rate, they'll be on closeout special at Costco for $200 in a few months. Lol

I noticed the price for the one directed to kitesurfers was the more expensive one. I think that is because everybody, including people in China knows that windsurfers are cheapskates, while kitesurfers will spend money like crazy.

Claim it has "carbon overlays" or some rubbish and you could sell them at twice the price to cyclists as "mountain aero brakes" or something. As I've noted elsewhere, a set of ceramic bearing jockey wheels (rear derailleur pulleys) cost as much as this wing.

If you want to see how cheap windsurfers are, look at the completed sales on eBay. A stunning amount of them are for $100+ crap sails from the 80s - the stuff we give away for free here. Either a restaurant chain is using them for decoration or there are a bunch of people trying to keep their HiFly 300CS on the water with OEM gear.

BTW - this is up to $615+35 for shipping now. Considering new is $749 (probably with free shipping) not much of a deal anymore.

BTW - it appears that most of the brands (Naish, Slingshot, Gong, F-One, Ozone, SPG) don't have a window. The only 2 that do seem to be Duotone and Manta. But now there are so many around I can't tell for sure.

Duotone wing drag racing a Techno OD (turn the sound down - soundtrack seemingly borrowed from "Twister")

This video is enough to make me reconsider the topic. The wing is 5m.

but, then, this video makes me happy to windfoil (you may have to go to youtube to see it). Absolutely ripping on flat water - almost no whitecaps at all.

Re: Naish Wingsurfer

This beats the Ebay wings. In fact, it looks like this is where they come from (and maybe F-One?). The Ebay wings are only 3 meters. Shipping would probably be $60 or more for Fed Ex. This is where I got my inflatable sail from. They did a good job on the sail. My main concern on this wing is how much diherdal it has. I think that is needed for stability. I'm not saying it would have kevlar, super ripstop, etc used by Naish and others though.

I think it gets dihedral the first time the wind hits it and the tips flex. I doubt there's enough structure for it to be flat.

My concern is that one of my distractable friends will get this when they almost have the sail thing licked. I'm sure you have no idea to whom I refer. Lol My second concern is that I'll get on of these and end up down at Chestnut Ridge. But, at least it folds up better than a sail for the long walk back.

From windfoil to wingfoil, there is only one step!

Perplexed at first, I hung as soon as I tried.

The practice combines the advantages of windsurfing and also those of kite, with the disadvantages of kite and windsurfing. The wing wings are still a little expensive, but for those lucky enough to have a board and a versatile foil, like the Horue Vini or other, we can get away with not too expensive. The range of use is also very large. If you only have to choose one, I would take 4m².

A tip for those who want to get started, I was able to test many different models, I really advise you to privilege the wing who have a real wish (that duotone for the moment, to see in the future?). The handles, whatever the brand brings several major problems: softer wing, heavier wing, discontinuous position of hands, difficulty handling more, limited use for those who wants to "get off", no adjustment, etc ....
