We were surprised on a beach walk to discover the Mid Atlantic Surfing Championship was underway a half mile from our house. The event took place over the weekend. Big wind made for exciting windsurfing on the Sound, but the Nor'easter brought waves so large the competition was called off for a day until the high surf subsided. By walking out on Jeanette's Pier we got great close-up views of amazingly skilled competitors.
