This movie looks interesting. I found it on rec.windsurfing. It's playing at Le Font Plaza starting 8-29. William suggested a club trip to see it. Anybody interested?

Today's (8/29) Atlanta Journal reviewed this movie, sounds good, I'll probably try to see it soon. Their verdict "Even the hopelessly landlocked will be hooked". I hope Chuck at WhiteCap has a large supply of those new surfboards he's now carrying. I know of several Atlanta Windsurfers who have surfboards and are trying to pick up the sport and I think there are some Atlanta windsurfers who are already really into surfing.
Also, the "Today" show had Senator Kerry kite-boarding this morning. When he got some air, he got my vote (for President in 2004).
Also, keep an eye on Tropical Storm Fabian, it's at least a week away but may be wind for the Swap meet in charleston on 9/6 or St. Pete (where I'll be).

If any of you get surf-stoked after viewing the movie, and start thinking, "Hey, dude, I gotta get a board!", don't run out and buy some sexy glass surf board before giving it some thought. Yes, even YOU can surf, but unless you're moving to the coast where there is a good, constant surf break, the Hard Core Soft Boards are the way for us real-world, middle-age windsurfers to go. These are the boards Gene is referring to -- if he can do it, anybody can! Carefree durability, safe, easy, and most importantly, CHEAP. I'm selling 'em for fun, essentially. Very low margin, and NO freight, keeps price around $260 + $20 depending on size. Will be over $400 in stores. The N. American importer is in Charleston. I'm picking up some next week if you are interested. He may not get another container this year, so if interested as a gift for someone, act now. See at http://www.macski.co.za
They are floaty but not huge heavy, longboards. No waxing, no board bag needed - no dings. The perfect no-wind activity. I strugled on my glass board two years till I got one of these -- end of story. Well, not the end: I can now go back to the glass board with relative ease. The dreaded SKUNK no longer stinks nearly so much. (OBX --here I come!) My kids, and Danny Johnson's too, were truly surfing their 4th or 5th wave. My kids are now way more excited about being a "surfer" than they ever have about windsurfing. (That'll come later, but the two activites fit well together when the family heads to the coast.) Saw the movie - its a defitnely worth a look. Really enjoyed the segment on "giant tanker wake surfing." It proves I'm not crazy. I used to try to sail down wakes of motorboats at the lake. I think I actually pulled it off a few times.....
