Monday wind but... Sunday night Storm takes a toll at Old Federal

I suppose there are worst hit location but here at Old Federal campground it felt like at least 60- 80 mph winds pummbled on our motorhome. At one point I thought we might get lifted in the air. We have many trees down and the roads blocked in the campground.

I know how long it took last time to reopen so hope the parks faired better them the campground..

We are here until the roads get cleared. I guess I'll be finding out how good are RV insurance is too. A big pine tree up rooted and missed are SUV by inches. My foil board got some flying time too. Plenty of repairs will be needed but we are alive uninjured and grateful for that. We may not be out of the wood yet but I hope the worst is over. It's nice to be on this wide open water front site for the view but when the wind comes there no where to hide. Scary night for sure.

. I prey you all are safe as well.

Sorry to hear you lived through that Roland but of course glad you are safe. Hope the damages aren’t too bad and insurance covers them.

Wow! Glad it wasn’t worse for you guys. I was watching the camera and was amazed by the near continuous lightning.

Damage at campground was not so bad I'm sure they will remain open for business.

The LL Sail Club Clubhouse is another story. 1/3 of the roof is missing and a tree is on a truck.

This storm totally caught me by surprise no wind at all, in 5 minutes later my awning was ripped off. Then it progressed for about 10 minutes with a crescendo had us thinking that the motorhome might actually get lifted in the air.

Damage to the awning was the most expensive thing coolers foil board other small things not so bad.

But the clubhouse...

I'm away for a few days, Roland, but if you need help with repairs to your board, I'll be happy to help upon my return.

Damage to LLSC is brutal. Hope everything up on Flat Creek is okay.

Glad y’all are okay Roland.

Has been for eons. Back then, it was sabre-toothed tigers. And, I saw enough Westerns as a child to know that it still was 150 years ago. Biggrin

More seriously, I was doing a week long canoe trip in Scouts when late one night a deputy rolled up to the campsite with a message for our Scoutmaster. The remnants of Hurricane Agnes was tearing through the Appalachians and we needed to scramble to higher ground. By morning what had been our campsite was under about five feet of water and many of the local bridges were flooded out, too. We waited it out for a couple of days in a barn and then continued the trip. Sleeping in the barn was cool and there really was a hay loft that was soft and dry - a marked improvement over our leaky and cramped tents.
