Bill Herderich has kindly agreed to club mailings awhile. We promised him that it didn't have to look like a newsletter yet but who knows, he may have a little bit of William Randolph Hearst in him and we'll see a bit more.
A topic that I promised to bring up tonight but didn't until the last minutes is the direction of the club. In recent years, we've been a bit loosey goosey because the club had established a traditional schedule and we all kind of knew what it took to make things happen whether it be a regatta or a clinic. (This was in response to times past when the club tended to perhaps spend too much effort sweating the details instead of delegating them to club members. )
The old gray mares that made this happen need to be put out to pasture and we need some fresh faces and ideas on what the club will be doing in the next few years in regards to: the definition of membership in a world of the internet (ie when I can chat with my friends for free, what does paying dues in a club get me?) If you occasionally check in the website but don't usually post, this would be a good time, even if anonymously. Share with the rest of us, the things you'd like to see the club do- races, parties, meetings, clinics, trips. Just because we've done things in a certain way in the past, doesn't preclude from charting a different course now.
Your ideas? Why are you a member and what do you want from your membership?
Hey,
I just spoke to Chuck Hardin (Whitecap Windsurfing). He is coming to the meeting tonight so if you want anything, now is the time to call.
