Meanwhile in Bonaire

I’ve been taking advantage of on-the-water rentals from World-champion windsurfers Taty & Tonky Franz. Taty recommended that to learn, I foil in the morning, when rested, & keep the sessions short.

Monday morning I managed to foil through a couple of jibes. So feeling confident, I kept going as the wind picked up, downsizing to a 4.7 meter sail. Pushing my limits away from shore, at high speed, out in the swell, I took a tumble, slamming my arm against the board as I fell. Peggy was kind enough to pick up waterproof bandages in town, so I was back on the water the next day.

This morning I was on the foil when a dark storm began to loom overhead. Wanting to avoid another injury, I headed for shore ahead of fishing boats racing for port. Rather than waiting out the rain, I switched boards & headed back out on a wave board & 4.4 sail. What a blast surfing the storm!!! The wind gauge at Jibe City recorded E 35mph. Then I swapped my small sail for a 5.0m as the rain stopped & the wind gradually subsided.

Bonaire has been a blast.

Re: Meanwhile in Bonaire

Thanks. So easy here due to large area of flat water & steady wind.
