I did this a few years ago on my Equipe. It was before foiling kites had it figured out and the Moth Worlds had just wrapped up at James Island YC. They killed it, regular kites close behind then Stanger, some catamarans, me, Olivier, Jeff (Longbored Dude) etc.

Chop can be crazy with three rivers converging in the harbor but the sea breeze is a screaming reach if you're powered. Foiling kite dude, Zack Marks, has won it the last two years, I think. Last year, his average speed was something like 35 knots.

JIYC puts on lots of cool events every year. They really do it up for the Special Olympic Regatta.
Hoping I can go to the fort to battery on the way home from Hatteras next spring and break that drive up.
