Lessons on Lanier

Hi I have wanted to get involved in this sport for a while now. Recently retired and can’t fix my slice at the golf course. Have reached out to a few members and aware about starting lessons. I could drive to Clearwater or Outer Banks but may not have conditions after driving 10 hours. If anyone is willing to get me started with lessons locally would be awesome. Also confused about starting with a wing or sail with zero experience. I live in Dacula and can meet anytime someone is up there. I feel better about learning from someone who frequents this area and may be more knowledgeable about the local sailing. Don’t expect this for free so will pay. Thanks ! Tim

Welcome!

Chris Pyron is your man if it's a sail. For a wing, watch a bunch of videos and get on out there if you can't make FL or NC.

btw, not much wind at all is required for your first lessons. It does help as you progress up the ladder but 5 mph is certainly fine for learning the basics.

Until you get out on the water, here's a bunch of great videos to at least get it in your mind what you'll be learning.

BTW - for the sail option there is a listing of a complete windsurfing setup on facebook, for $1000. Includes 2 boards, but good for starting out. Could probably sell one of them an recoup a fair amount to the to price. It is usually very hard to put together a complete starter kit from used gear. Located in Cumming. Not too far either.
