Lanier Sat. Report

In case anyone is wonder, there was wind at Lanier on Sat. (Vann's Tavern).  I was on my Start and 7.2, Tim Carter on a 8.0 and Techno.  Seemed like pretty solid 12-15 once you got away from the shore. Probably the "dome effect" in reverse.  (Water in the low 70's air in the 50's).

randy,
can't believe you didn't rig the 8.2.  Anyone can hold onto a bigger sail than that weasel carter.

hey, did you wear sunscreen Wink

Re: Lanier Sat. Report

Well, that's how it started out - I rigged my 8.5 and Tim rigged a 6.6.  The 8.5 was too big and Tim soon changed to the 8.0, though it looked like he was planing at least some of the time on the 6.6.  Only a guess, but you would have probably tried your 9.0.

The 8.2 might have been interesting to try, but I thought (my usual mistake) that I would need all the horsepower I could get, so I brought my 8.5 instead.  Anyway, the 7.2 was fine with my Start - doesn't need a big sail to get planing.  Anything bigger and I might have gone too fast, or worse yet, fallen in and gotten wet.

As for the sunscreen, I didn't need it with my full length wetsuit, helmut and booties and pfd.

Finally, I did register once, but not sure what to do after that.  By now I forgot my password, and login ID, or exactly what it is that registering is supposed to do for you.

no, you aren't registered.  There's no listing for you in the database.

Why register?  instant messages, bolster the numbers and, most importantly,

keep up with Bill H and plop in the number of posts  :D

Re: Lanier Sat. Report

Well, Sat 11th was another winner.  I was on 7.2 then 6.0 and back to 7.2 after an hour or so. Others running 6.5-6.8.  Pretty windy and lots of chop from the boats.  Is this the bowl effect (the dome effect in reverse)
