As of 7 am the lake was at 1071.5, about 6 inches below full pool. What's interesting is that we have had about 10 inches more rain than normal this year. So my question is - if we can't fill the lake up with 10 extra inches of rain (and have been well above normal for most of the year and IIRC last year was not a bad year either)- what is it going to take? (Or has the COE just been dumping water this year?) Anyone know?

Seems like they've been dumping water. The lake was full a week ago and then they let out about a foot in the next few days.
If this continues to be a wet year, they'll need a place to put all the water.
Last winter, they kept the lake a foot over full pond. Typically over the winter, they let the lake out 2-4 ft so allow room for spring rains.

Up 10 inches in the last 24 hours. Maybe they look at the forecasts as much as we do
btw, full pool varies between summer and winter. Winter full is 1070 and summer 1071.
My vote for this year's "Ironic Post". Today's level: 1074.5.

As if getting out of Van Pugh wasn't hard enough - now there is 4 more feet of water.
Good news is that I've been invited on Psychic Friends Network owing to my ability to foresee the coming water crisis at Lake Lanier.

Don't worry, you can launch off the grass out of the shadow now. Forget the Psychic Friends gig, just get a job as a Goldman Sachs analyst - I think they pay better and worry less if you are ever right.
Corps says it'll take a month for the water to go back down to 1070. No place to put the water downstream.

What about Florida's precious mussels? Don't they want a tall, cool drink?

a - the mussels are in a 12 step program - they no longer drink
b - Columbus, etc is the problem. The 'hooch is in mild flood stage there

That is a music video that only Florida's Water War team of lawyers and experts could love.
