"lake" equip.

Hi Guys!

Need your advice Smile
I am going to buy a new sail - Maui Pursuit 8.0.
Because with our Summer winds around 8-10mph I need a bigger sail to enjoy it (the biggest sail I have now is 6.2m) Smile

Is it a good sail for light winds? for a lake? for harder winds?
And is there a big diff. between 2008 and 2007 (the latter costs $100 less) ?

Since I am still considering myself as a beginner, I need relatively "forgiving", easy tuning up sail. But at the same time I don't need a very "beginner" sail since I want to move on further...

About a board. I have Bic Techno Classic 293D. I heard those long boards are really good with light winds as well as with stronger winds (Kona ONE - 350 cm, 220 litres). When I was on that event on St. Simons Island, John Ingebristen recommended me Kona ONE as the ideal "lake Lanier" board. He told me also that this board also good on waves. But it's so loooong Smile I had in mind something like Fanatic Shark 145 HRC. But I read several reports and they all say Kona ONE is an early-planing board. So, I am not sure about a board yet...

So, what do you think?

Thanks!
Igor.

With the best wishes, Rodnoy.

Igor,

WINDSENSE, ATLANTA's Windsurfing Shop, has a KONA One as a rental board. Before buying, you could actually DEMO it (no charge) on Lake Lanier to help you decide.

Also, you may find that a bigger sail like an 8.0 on the Techno 293D may be all you need for the light air days on Lanier. Then you may want to consider a fairly floaty short board, around 130/140 liters, for when the wind is more. It would carry the 8.0 and 6.3 sails easily on the planing days. I would be glad to discuss some other options with you and would be glad to sell you some equipment.

Also, WINDSENSE SELLS NEW AND USED WINDSURFING GEAR IN ATLANTA!
