Kitesurfing classes for ABC members

Windsurfers...

Regarding the Kite classes for ABC memebers...

With the exception of Gene, I have not been contacted by any other member. Please do so if you planned to attend, as we are running out of time to make necesary arrangements. All GA Tech crew have already comited and pay their deposits (20 of them. Other weekends tough). If I can not have commitment from at least 4 people, I think we will have to put the class on hold for the moment. Remember the dates are March 11th and 12th. ABC memeber's price of 170 P/P.

If Interested please give me a call at 404 509 4229 or email me at

Hope to see some of you on the 11th and 12th instruction session.

It's bad luck to talk about sharks & water sports...

I am seeing if I can do it - maybe I can figure it out tomorrow. Having had lessons, I'd be intersted in "just doing it".

questions

I have a question

What if we get blown downwind or way offshore....will there be a jetski or boat to save us?
This seems like a really low price for kite surfing lessons, will this be a complete kite lesson where we would expect to be kite surfing at the end of the course? or more of a teaser course that just teaches the basics of kite handling?

The course being offered for the ABC members is the "ENTRY LEVEL COURSE", which is basically kite control (ground school) starting with a foil kite, and progressing to bigger foil kites and then inflatables. On the second day continue with kite control, safety practices and body dragging. The course meant to stop there, however Gene commented that he wanted to try to use the board and do "the real thing". I agreed as long as I can see that it will be safe to do so. Given that ABC members already have board skills and know the wind..., it will not surprise me that some of you will be able to ride on Sunday. If it is blowing off-shore, NO WAY JOSEI.... I won't let you guys to try the board in open water.... If it is sideshore conditions, body dragging is already mastered, wind isn't gusty, and there is enough time, we could try. Now... the price of 170 was not meant to cover waver runner, meals, etc.. It was in fact for a basic first time around kiting experience.

If get blown downwind, as long as you don't get blown pass the end of the island.... and you have 6 mi beofre that happens, you just have to come to shore (bodydragging, swiming, etc) and walk back upwind. I am sure it won't be the first walk of shame for some of you!.... If we get a lot of people moving fast enough through the course, and some of you want the additional waverunner support, we can rent one from a local waverunner operator (we know one) and divide the cost among participants.

Rgds,
Emilio.

Who's going?

Judging from the marine f'cast, it looks like the high may move off shore and bring some shredable south (warm) wind to the coast by Thursday & Friday with a little less on Saturday. Maybe leave predawn for a Friday session??

Would be cool, but I need to be in Atl Fri and will get there late in the evening. But I will bring a windsurfboard also - maybe the lighter wind gear.
