"'Kiteboarder, 2 others rescued off Tybee Island'

U.S. Coast Guard officials say they pulled three people from the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Tybee Island.

Authorities say a kite boarder went down, and two paddle boarders who tried to help got pulled out from the shore.

The Savannah Morning News reports that Tybee Island firefighters and Coast Guard crews were called shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday off the 18th Street Beach.

Coast Guard officer Dewayne Visser said waters were choppy and winds were about 20 mph.

Authorities said firefighters were getting ready to launch inflatable boats when a 25-foot Coast Guard boat pulled the kiteboarder and paddle boarders out of the water at 2:37 p.m.

No serious injuries were reported."
