kiteboarder & windsurfer query

I am about to relocate back to the Southeast. While I still windsurf, I have picked up kiteboarding while in Oregon. Does anyone know of any inland spots(Ga, Tenn, Nc) where kiteboarding is happening or where might be accepted.

Thanks in advance for any info

Re: kiteboarder & windsurfer query

I've seen a lot of kiters in Charleston on the coast, and I understand FL has an active kite scene.  As for the inland lakes, such as Lanier, I see no reason why kites would not be welcomed.  However, I don't know if conditions would be considered suitable or not.  (Many don't consider conditions here suitable for windsurfing either, but that's another story.)  There have been a few people trying to get started kiting out at Lanier, but no regulars that I am aware of.

Re: kiteboarder & windsurfer query

there are some kiters on Lake Norman (Charlotte, NC) I think and Lake Jordan (Chapel Hill, NC) I'm sure. Like Randy said, the better action is on the coasts- Charleston, Jaxville, Panhandle, etc.

Our lakes in Atlanta don't have terrific launches except possibly Vann's Tavern in a NE. Fluky winds don't help either.

A skilled kiter would be welcome here and maybe get some of us scared old f@rts off our duffs.

Atlanta can be a lovely place to live but don't move here for the wind. Best of luck.
