Is it time to retire the Randy Report?

Originally we set up the Randy Report to give folks a head up on possible upcoming good sailing weather.  Is it still something worth having on the site?  Thoughts, yay or nay...

Re: Is it time to retire the Randy Report?

I was never sure if anyone read it in the first place.  May be time for it to go.

From a practical point of view, I am not sure how helpful it really was because there are now so many good models out there that anyone can find plenty of reports to look at.  Another problem is that it really is not very hard to forecast shortboard (i.e. better than 12kt) conditions.  What is really hard is forecasting conditions of say 8-12.  In this range of wind wide or longboards sail great, but it is really easy to miss the mark.

Does that mean we retire you, too?

I may automate it with an algorithm like you and I discussed a couple of years ago, Randy.  Some function of wind, temp, time of year, etc.

Anybody up for some regression analysis? It's been way too long since I did any statistics. (Hint: Jimmy Carter was prez)

I have kept in practice on the regression stuff.  Let me know what you have in mind.  BTw - today turned out to be a nice 9.0 day at Tidwell.

I guess everyone else knows exactly when the wind will blow....

Not me, I never know when the wind will blow and have a deep appreciation for the Randy Report. Keep it coming, it will save me a lot of gas money. Also, you ever notice on the six o'clock news that the weather man never says he wrong about his last forecast.
