Big ups to Chris V for being a gracious host.
Also Mike and Christina Prazak for being hosts.
Crispy, David Wade and I windsurfed.
Kevin O. and Barrett attended for the apres shred cocktails; and salsa chips.
A couple of GT guys went out on longboards.
Not only did we windsurf but we got to witness the carnage on the water as the winds ripped through the regatta. Keelboat dismasted, another ended up on the rocks with a "kite" wrapped around the keel, a GT dinghy turtled and stories of gear failure. Highlight of the day was sailing along and hearing voices. Two guys had come off a keelboat and where just bobbing in the middle of the bay. A kindly windsurfer went to fetch help. Moral of the day: pfds save lives. These guys would have been screwed without flotation as they were wearing street clothes in the cold water and chop.
No foiling for me... a little too gnarly for a beginner but I sure thought it'd been nice to be riding high over some of that voodoo chop!

Edits for Gene:
CV and Mike windsurfed. Forgot to mention that Richard and Zoe stopped by for snacks. Richard windsurfed back in the cove. DWade provided editorial content but did not windsurf. Gene came by but saw too much wind and fled
Apologies to Richard and Zoe for the omission. Brain was fried when I posted.
VP /Old Fed windsurfers kiters not mentioned because they didn't come to the party and this is the Saturday windsurfing party at the LLSC thread.
Gene did say there was a Prodigy sailor at Old Fed and a couple of kiters. Barrett sent some pictures I'll put up in a gallery later after I've actually gotten some work done.
And Chris sent this pic similar to the one above but I actually have the gap closed on this one and don't feel so badly about myself. Ezzy Cheetah for the win.
More edits for Gene (he's feeling low today): Gene was there! Not only that, Gene did a tour of VP, LLSC and Old Federal to see who was out and cheer people on. Again, apologies to the people I overlooked, misspelled, omitted, etc.
Hey there everyone! I'm new to the group (well I signed up some time back but forgot my password and have been to lazy to reset it!) and I'm sorry I didn't check the thread before I went up to the lake. I've been in ATL for about a year and that was actually my first trip up. I've been to stubborn to admit the beach is far away and have been driving to NC or SC most weekends to get some water time in.
I was out at Old Federal on a Black and Yellow Slingshot Kite. Didn't get to meet anyone but there was another Kiter with a red and black kite out at Federal and I also met a guy named Scott who said he's learning how to Windsurf--nice guy.

Hope to see some of you up there next time!
Welcome (or welcome back). Thanks for checking in . The other kiter was David DeLozier who also frequents here and windsurfs, too, depending on the conditions. If you hang at Old Federal a bit, you should run into Roger (Dutch) and Gene (S.C.) plus some other occasionals. As the weather and water warms up, there should be more activity.
Thanks for posting the pic, too. Do post when you get the chance if you are going locally or taking a trip as it encourages others to join you. (I guess that's a good thing).
Crazy day, sorry we missed paths, met your girlfriend while you were out. I was mostly overpowered on an 11m Cabrinha switchblade, probably should of been on the 8. Next few days look nice if you can get out, maybe even another chance for that 8!!
It's downwind Old Fed to LLSC... or take the shortcut
If you can't make it, you can watch

And to those who sailed at VP instead:
It's Mike and Christina Prazak. No worries, we had a really fun time yesterday. I built some confidence too. Did Chris V end up sailing the foil?

Was that you or Roger on the kite that CV saw?
Copious apologies. I'm an idiot. Thanks for coming out and giving it a go in pretty challenging conditions. All of us kooked out one way or another.Edits for Gene:
