I think we need to look at the GA coast again

There's got to be a place like this. But, we need a boat with a rack like they have, too.

In October Trey, Sophie and I went to St Simon's Island for a weekend. There is still a good windsurfing club there and the local guys were very welcoming. Wind was super steady, I think I was on a 4.7 if I remember correctly, Trey probably on 5.x and Sophie on a 4.0. Great place to windsurf and under 6 hours drive. The sand bar that used to be a 1/4 mile out is gone due to a seawall that was built a mile north, so the smoother inside water is no longer. Now it's waves and bumpy getting out, but once out away from the beach it was fantastic. Hoping to go again in May/June.

The bay at Destin/Ft. Walton is shallow for a long ways from the shore. Only 6 hours and warmer than Atlanta. Lots of launches. Winds are probably not any stronger than Atlanta (if that) but far better quality. I've wanted to move there for years now. Not a cheap place to visit, but you don't need a boat for anything. They may also have a seabreeze in the warmer months, but I can't confirm that.

Finally an updated report about St. Simons, thanks!!! I use to sail there frequently, but it’s been at least 6 or 7 years since I have been there. It’s only a 3 and 1/2 hour drive for me, but I’m super bummed to hear that the sand bar isn’t there. I’m not sure I will go back now.

I sailed there once probably about 10 years ago. It was nice place. I had no idea the surf sailors were still around. In fact, when I was there I wasn't sure if anyone was still in that club. I just took my gear to the beach and sailed. Hope they win.
