I had a date for lunch, what did I miss today?

Couldn't make it to the lake today (Thursday) as I had a lunch date with Mrs. Morris's kindergarten class.  How was it?

The cheeseburgers are as bad as you remember them but they now serve chocolate milk and the fries and chocolate cake weren't bad either.  Thank you for asking  ;)

It was GUST sailing.  Typical.  5 to 20 WSW.  Had to get far out to get in the wind channel.  Overpowered on 7.5 on two occasions.  Just beat it up wind when the big gust came.  Planing 40% to 50% of the time.  A few large boats out the made some interesting rollers - reminded me of an almost summer day on a Sat. or Sun. when it gets like a washing machine.  Water is not cold but I did wear a shorty and outside temp was 90.  All in all it was worth being there.  Me, Joe, and Phillip.

5.5 day....I mean I left my 5.5 in the trailer rigged a 7.5 and a 9.5 and was underpowered and overpowered on both.  So so gusty could not get it right.  Sailed w/ Gene & David

I figured you weren't looking for the Galts report, but based on the Lanier comments, it sounds like it was quite similar to what we saw.  (I was suprised, figured it would be much smoother at Lanier. Short on time, I couldn't make it all the way to Sunrise.)  Pretty much the same story, I was using both my 6.0 and 7.2 on my Start, planing a lot of the time.  Could have probably used the 7.2 all the time, but, not sure it made that much diff. because in the gusts there was plenty of wind and the lulls were so deep it didn't matter much.  We had a lot of "ribbons" going across the lake, that were very strong - if it worked right, you could plane from one to the next, or if things weren't right, you planed for twenty feet, then shlogged for 100.

It did tend to smooth out towards the end of the day, but I had to leave.

So better than the cheeseburgers, but probably not as good as the dessert.

I was at Lake Chatuge, working, saw the whitecaps and went for a sail.  I'm a little glad to hear that everyone else's conditions were not that much different from mine.  I was beginning to think that Chatuge just bites generally.  THe jury is still out on that.  I sailed about an hour with a 5.6 on a small board.  Background wind was about 4-7 with gusts to 15-22, and the gusts were very spotty.
