Hunting island foil question

I will be camping at Hunting Island SP in SC next weekend thru Wed and seeing good wind in the forecast for a few days at least. Anyone familiar with spots to sail from other than the ocean? Could be at the island or short drive.
The island seems to have good options for hiking, biking and kayaking. I can bring toys for all that and windsurf gear -have done it in the past- but sure makes for a full load. So, trying to see if it will be worth bringing windsurf gear. I know, with wind and being at the water, a real windsurfer would bring it and make it work somehow but i am far from being a real windsurfer-just pretending to get by as one in training. 😀

Until someone who actually knows what they are talking about chimes in, that area of SC has a pretty gentle shore break and it's easy to launch off the beach. Rhett does it all the time further north and I've done it in Hilton Head. If you stick to your 5.7 and down, you should be fine. I wouldn't be taking your big cammed sails out until you are more comfortable doing so. Looking at the map, there may be places on the north end of the island where you can launch into the inlet. Do look at a navigation map and spot the sandbars, etc where things may be shallow.

Thank you William. I saw that inlet to the north and thought either Joe in Tybee or Tim in Hilton head were sailing from somewhere like that but maybe I misunderstood. Might give them a call too. This is Gene’s homeland but apparently he doesn’t have much experience sailing there - he has become a Floridian for too long I suppose 😀

They'd both love the company - definitely give them a call if you get a chance.

I’ve never sailed or paddled that specific area but be mindful that the tides there can rise and fall 5 to 7 ft, plan your paddling with the ebbs and flows if you paddle the creeks.
And bugs, remember your bug spray and netting.

My 2 cents.
