How to repaint your Starboard windsurf board

Ran across this today when doing something fairly unrelated

Getting a ding in some boards is no big deal. Fix it and grab some white rattle can spray from your local hardware and you are good. Add a coat of clear acrylic gloss for that shiny look (but leave the bottom flat for speed).

But, Starboard. Every blue Carve which had a repair (e.g. mine) always stood out like a sore thumb because nothing in the store even remotely matches.

I just found this today: Color guide for Starboard going back to model year 2000 https://windsurf.star-board.com/products/color-guide/

Grab the Pantone code and then head to this site which has Pantone matched spray paints at a reasonable price: https://www.myperfectcolor.com/paint/379417-pantone-pms-3005-c/spray-oem-and-touch-up-paint/spray-paint/satin (This is the spray that matches my board)

For those unaware - Pantone is a " a proprietary color space used in a variety of industries notably graphic design, fashion design, product design, printing and manufacturing..." Basically, it's a way for professionals to have a common color standard so the colors across various mediums match exactly. Prevents the "but it looked more green on my computer monitor" when you print 2mm magazine covers or letterheads.
