Growing Kitesurfing in Atlanta

I'm Happy to know that the Kitesurfing community is growing in the Atlanta are. We were about 4 kitesurfers at the old federal park, helping one another and inspite of the extreme dificulty of kiting on lake lanier due to the gusty wind and trees , this sport is growing.
I'd like to welcome Martin and Gunter who came out today with me and Scott.
hopefully tomorrow will be windy too. maybe we can kite downwind to Vann's from the old federal.

I'm targeting 10am to get up to Old Federal Sunday. Looks like fairly steady 13, 14 mph from the ENE. See you there.

Kitesurfing

Hey Khalil,

I am from Columbus, intermediate kitesurfer able to go up wind well and small jumps.

How do I get to Old federal park?

What wind direction is it good?

Want to go this saturday.

Can I call someone?

Rich,
West Point has some good launches if I recall around the dam. They are definitely good for windsurfing but I don't remember what the tree situation is.

Bad news: the dam is pretty close downwind. Not a place to take an accidental downwinder.

Hi Rich,
Ill be happy to advice you about the kitesurfing situation on the lake, but where ever you go on the lake stay away from the dam I was asked to keep out of that area inparticular due to the power lines.
