In case anyone is so inclined, you can sign up now for sailing classes at Lake Allatoona with the Allatoona Yacht Club. The course fee is $90 for 4 weeks of lessons, which includes use of their boats (Sunfish). You learn sailing terms, rigging the boat, knots, basic sailing skills, safety and various other things. I just finished the class and you can learn a lot. Just renting a sailboat for one or two times would cost more, w/o any lessons.
The classes will start Monday Sep. 1, and then each Sunday (Sep 7, 14 and 21). Classes are in the evenings starting at about 4pm to dark.

ps.
(Warning -do not assume that just because you have been windsurfing sailing will be easy!). But it is fun and won't interfere much with windsurfing since its late in the day, and in September before we see much wind around here.
Radn,
I've sailed a Sunfish many times and can't remember once having to uphaul.
btw, they are a bear to carry down to the beach by yourself
Notch it up and get them to teach how to do a jibe on a Hobie 16 in 20 - 25 knot winds. That Hobie will jibe just about as fast a windsurfer. Add a little swell to make things interesting.
Yeah, uphauling has never been a problem for me either. As for the 20-25, that's what windsurfers are for. (In fact, I'd say anytihing over 8-10, but if you are stuck in 1-7, hard to beat a fish.)
One problem I have is that I continue to refer to it as a "board".
Radny
Just found out that the dates have changed to Sept 7, 14, 21 and 28. If anyone wants to know what the class is like don't hesitate to contact me.(randacf@nospan.aol.com)
