GoPro Max

Good video and for the non-foilers out there this is how it sounds.

Some foils "sing" louder than others .
The Starboard race foils sing more than my Slingshot I76 but it too will quietly sing along.
I have not heard Webguy's Tillo but that might because he is a 1/4 mile upwind from me.

Drag around with your mouse to get all the different views. On a phone, you can move the phone around like VR.

What Langdon said - this captures what it looks and sounds like very well. What is hard to capture is how smooth the ride is.

As to the whistle - my Tillo doesn't whistle at all. The back edge is sharp which cuts down on the tendency. My AFS does whistle a bit.

My Manta doesn't sing either. Pretty cool they way the Max works and the picture quality is great. $499 for the camera though.

10 of us could chip in $50 and we could take turns trying to break it.

In all seriousness, We need more photos and videos.
Some for my own ego and some to help recruit a younger generation of windsurfers.

You are the younger generation. I will try to keep up while I am “finning” with my old school sailing gear. Does anyone remember windsurfing?

Re: GoPro Max

I don’t wear my hearing aids when on the water so it’s pretty quiet out there.

Foiling is perfect for the "senior" windsurfer:

  • Requires less sail for the same conditions
  • Wider foiling boards make for stable and forgiving platforms
  • Being above the chop lessens pounding and strain on joints
  • Greater light wind capabilities means less standing around on shore waiting for wind or leaving too dang early and missing a good day Biggrin

Re: GoPro Max

Put your Max on top of your mast - DIY drone. The first part of the video is just ordinary foil upwind/downwind. I put the start point where he rigs up a 4.5 and mounts the GoPro up top. Cool to see the swell and everyone playing on it.
