Re: Is Galts good in SE?

Chris,

I'm thinking about Galt's, but it would have to be in the afternoon with a primarily Easterly wind.  ESE would be O.K. but any more southerly than that (like SE) makes it unattractive since the trees reduce the wind strength and increase the turbulence.

Based on the foresasts below, it looks to be the best mid-late morning.  Perhaps the "mos man" would like to chime in with his assesment!

48-hour meteogram: Winds peak ESE 22 at 1300
NWS: Winds peak E 14 at 0900
Weather.com: Winds peak ESE 12 from 0900-1200
intellicast.com: Winds peak ESE 15-20 at 1300
Graphic MOS:  9-12 at 1300 & 1600, 12-15 at 1000,

Bill

Re: Is Galts good in SE?

Don't know about the mos guy whoever he is but us old school NGM* fellows see decent wind in the am.  With the possibility of a wind shadow at Galts vs. clean air and easy launch at Vann's, I gotta say, the Cherokee chief's spot looks better even if it is 10 minutes further.

Too bad the tavern is 170 years gone, it'd be nice to have a place to stop in for a toddy after sailing.

weather.com? Bill.... we've talked about that.   ya gotta get over the weather on the eights and move on Wink

*see numerical/graphic mos on the left <-

btw, thanks for this thread.  I've been working too hard to dial up the forecasts even on my own site. I would have missed tomorrow.
