Hey,
FYI-Tommorrow may be a nice Galt's Ferry day. The 48 hour metegram is showing E 20 starting in the afternoon at around 1:00. Temps in the low 60's with a 40% chance of showers. Note that Allatoona is currently only two feet below full pool.

I will try to go around 3 PM .. Do you know what time they are locking the gate at Galt's now ?
See ya on the water ..
Hey,
The Galt's Ferry Gate has been closing at 6:00 PM for the winter months. I'm unaware if they have gone to the summer schedule though. Just check the sign when you drive in.
Remember if it gets late, you can move your vehicle to the boat ramp parking lot. It's not locked at night.
Bill
I'll try to be there around noon.

those times are UTC (universal time code nee Greenwich Mean Time)- It should be blowing in the am.
Don't forget you can use the graphic/numeric forecasts
<-- over there under weather. chose NGM or AVN for short term forecasts. (btw, gainesville has avn but not ngm)

Who knows, I might try to make it there in the morning if I can get away...
Mimi
I was thinking that if there was wind, I'd go to Tidwell. However, with all the people heading to Galts I'll probably try to go there. I will probably go in the am, unless there is no sign of wind.

Hey,
Beware if you are going in the morning. According to the 48-hour meteogram, Weather.com, and the NWS, The wind will pick up after 9:00 AM and peak anywhere between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM EST. It's then supposed to be fairly steady through the evening. Folks going out in the morning should check the forcast again to make sure they don't get skunked.
Note that the 48-hour meteogram shows the wind peaking at 1800Z which is 1300 or 1:00 PM EST (subtract 5 hours to get EST).

the page for cobb county is peachtree city NWS output.
I was referring earlier to nws output. The data on the website come directly from nws.noaa.gov (there's a link on the page) (I don't pay attention to weather.com since they tend to parrot whatever the NWS is saying anyway). Hope for the benefit of the pm sailors that the peachtree city forecast holds sure would be nice.
I'll work on linking the peachtree data into the website.
Bill,
Good points. Hourly forecasts tend to be very unreliable, so I think it is always best to check and make sure that the wind being advertised is really in the store. For Galts you can call 770-425-3406 (McCollum) to get an idea. Dobbins is usually way high when the wind is W, but tends to be ok for an e wind.

Let us know how it all goes. I'm going to work. I hope we can go Sunday...!

Weather Bug Shows E 12/G25 from Mccollum field right now. Trying to get out of here and to the lake.
See ya on the water ..
Looks like the same company who built the windtalker at Hartsfield made the one at McCollum.
At 1:30ish, it wasn't more than 8-12 at Galts.
Randy was having a blast on his 9.0, though.
Hey,
Galt’s kicked in at about 2:00 PM EST, right about the time William and Randy left (thanks for the sacrifice). Jerry (8.2), Jim (9.2), and myself (7.8) had some very nice runs until we quit at around 5:00. We had a good time although the wind was gusty and made for a lot of work. The one nice thing about Galt’s on an east wind is that the water is so flat. Jerry seemed to be nailing most of his jibes.
I'm considering going out again this morning (Saturday). It still looks like it might blow a little.
