Galt’s report Sunday June 2

Winds NW 5-10 G 12 (estimated).  I sailed from 1:30-4:00 on an F2 Phoenix 320 and 7.8 sail.  Lots of boats and jetskies created choppy conditions.  AYC sailboat races where going on the whole time so I sailed upwind to the channel west of the marina.  The wind was pretty steady there.  If I closed my eyes I could almost imagine being in Aruba.  Almost planned twice.

Warning: Go early to Galt’s if you’re going on the weekend.  The parking lot at Galt’s was full when I arrived at 1:00.  I had to wait 20 minutes for enough people to leave before I got in.  When I left at 4:30 there were still about 20 cars lined up to get in.  Also, Galt’s will be closed June 22 for kid’s day.

Re: Galt’s report Sunday June 2

Bill,

I thought it looked like Sunday was turing out better than Sat., but was short on time.  Did visit my favorite parking lot for some landsailing.  Got planing 100%of the time!(Of course, its impossible to sail in displacement mode in a parking lot unless it is REALLY hot.)

As for the crowds, I think that the civilian population of Galts drops off as the summer goes on, but it is usually pretty crowded.  I like Acworth better in the summer - less wind perhaps, but definitely fewer boats to worry about.  (I don't worry that much about the boats as much as the people they are towing on water skis, etc.  Sometimes hard to tell they are pulling something.)
