ft. myers and sanibel

winds at 20 knots today  ft. myers
there were a parking lot full at the causeway plus one kite
surfer
crossing the causeway to sanibel island to the lighthouse
this point location had a suprising 8 kitesurfers with 2-3 onthe water at any one time with one windsurfer rigging down to 5.o.  the kitesurfing looked fun and easy
it looks good for southeast winds next couple days
i will be back this coming weekend with equipment and plan to take a kite lesson!

NO  not after reading all the kitemares!
also they wanted $90 hour 3 hour minimum for lessons
at Ace performer.
left today about 4 and at the causeway there were 5-6
windsurfers and one kite looked like lessons with about 10 mphwind  the kite was on the beach. do you know the club info if they have one down there?

don't know of a club south of Fleet 12 (Tampa)

re: kitemares- what get's me is many of those posts happened to pretty experienced kiters.  Guys/gals who've been doing it a few years.  I think the sport needs to develop an easier way to "luff" a kite before it's ready for general consumption.  If things get out of hand on a windsurfer you can luff the rig or just drop it in the water and sit on your board.

Glad you are getting wind because all we are getting up here are record highs (although it seemed breezy yesterday pm, anyone make it out?)

90 dollars an hour, 3 hour minimum.  Now I know I'm in the wrong business.  Kiting is tempting but it would be tough at Lanier.  Where are these kitemares posted?

Never mind, I found 'em.  I think the horror stories are whats keeping me from even trying kiting!
