I sent out a message to the ACWA (Augusta-Columbia list to see if any fools went out in the big wind Thursday, 23rd, here at Thurmond ro Lake Murray or Monticello (near Columbia, SC) where the wind/water temperature sum was about 77. This is the one reply. This guy is a medical doctor -- hope he has good malpractice insurance. From Johnathan Pellet: "I went after work. Hit the water at 4:45 pm and it was howling! Unfortunately, my gloves have developed some holes, so my fingers couldn't take it for very long. The sail iced over while on the water, and as I was loading my gear up to go I realized that the footstraps were frozen solid too. I have now discovered my limits, and I won't be going out in weather like that again... At least not until my DaKine cold water mitts come.
