Don't they know by now that easterlies start in the morning and die by noon? It would certainly work out better for me that way.

It's a classic "dies by noon" scenario – low level east with overrunning SW above... EXCEPT the SW flow is bring in clouds which should shut down thermals and vertical mixing especially as clouds thicken later today.
