well, about 90% redone.
We've imported all two thousand one hundred and seventy six images into the new format. Surprisingly, that was the easy part. The next 12 hours were devoted to formatting, getting the breadcrumbs to show what was actually there, etc.
Debating about adding slideshows, etc but I'm pretty fried by now.
One thing I could have done but decided to skip was make commenting available. Anyone see the big need?
Theoretically, we could add photos to the existing format but it's nowhere near user friendly unless you are very familiar with the bowels of this beast. If I can automate it, I'll try to, otherwise, send me your pics and/or we'll start a ver. 2.0 somewhere on the site.
The big question: Why bother? Because when you start going through the pics you realize all the good times that we've had and you look forward to more.

If you are having logging in or stay logged in, let me know. The first thing to do is make sure you are logged out of both the website and the forums. Then log in on the home page. Yes, it all looks like one place but we've cleverly disguised how much chewing gum and duct tape holds the different parts together.

fotophoto gallery circa 199somethingI probably colored it in by the pixel. Yeah, I've been spelling it wrong since Dan Quayle was still in the public eye. Glad I'm not judged on how I spell stuff or I'd never be vice-president.
More improvements.
- You can now comment on photos if you are logged in (doubt anyone will but oh, well)
- Summaries of albums, picture descriptions and username of who submitted the pics now visible and updated to match up what we had in the old gallery
- improved layout and navigation.
I'll probably do some more improvements but need to stop for the moment to document what I've done for others who need to do the same migration.
Comments, questions, etc. welcome.
Very soon, users will be able to create new albums with appropriate permission - ie I need to approve you first to keep someone from just signing up and flooding the album with crap. The mechanisms are all there, I just need to write the tutorials, etc.
About the only good thing to come of the cold this week...
