I've been asked if the water deep enough to foil where we stay in Nags Head on the Outer Banks. Rhett & I have both foiled on our current visit. I bought a 75cm mast and find that it clears the bottom if I walk my gear out about a hundred yards from shore, as shown in the first photo. Rhett has an 85cm mast and has to wade out about twice as far to clear the bottom. Today the wind was offshore from the NW, resulting in lower than normal water depth. Rhett was still able to sail, as shown in the second photo, but I sailed with a fin rather than walk so far to deep water.
