First vist to Shell Point, FL

Hi everyone,
I'm planning a trip to Shell Point Beach area over the weekend of March 12th and, because this is my first time going down there, I was wondering if people familiar with the area could provide me with some pointers as to windsurfing spot(s), place(s) to sleep (campsites) as well as any other useful info?
Also, I picked Shell Point Beach location because it seems to be the closest Gulf location from the list of windsurfing spots listed on this website, so if there are suggestions for a better location, feel free to suggest.

Thanks,
Enis

Here's their website:

See the "local sailing scene" for a good description of the water. It'd be very helpful to have a local point out the oyster beds. I've never been to it but I've heard the Wind Ceremony is pretty great... and I'm sure you'd get the full SP experience if you went for that. It's on the 20th. You can camp there on their regatta weekends (not sure about for the WC) but I don't think it's done otherwise. There are motels not too far from there.

Cape San Blas is similar in distance and it's a very beautiful & cool place. Very nice campground in the state park. See the ABC foto gallery for Barrett's excellent photo tour. More info on CSB here:

St Simons is also about the same distance. Offshore sandbar makes it an easy launch with flat water near shore and swell outside if you want it. You're more likely to see other windsurfers or kiters there. Just got this link to the weather station at the beach:

Thanks!
Your suggestions looked good enough for us to decide to go to Cape San Blas... will see about posting a picture or two after coming back.
