Fall Kickoff WINDfest - Sept 18th -- Clark Hill

Hey, y'all, since we're all bummed out about the big Charley skunk-a-roo today, I'm rushing out this announcement. If YOU are a windsurfer, this'll get ya s-t-o-k-ed.

The best inland windfest we have seen yet!! A day to viatalize an enthusirize windsurfing throughout the land...or at least around here! Whitecap Windsurfing is sponsoring a convocation of windsurfers at Lake Springs on Clark Hill (Lake Thurmond) for a day of various activities celebrating our sport and it's unique culture of wind and surfing. Sept. 18th.
And, as awesome as that is, get this: That same day, about 5 minutes away by car, Columbia County is having a simultaneous event at Wildwood park. This event will include FIREWORKS and LIVE MUSIC (two bands!) that evening. They are calling it the "Wildwood Lakefest". We windsurfers are invited. So, get-out-of-town, it's a 2-for-one fest!!

But, as for our WINDfest, I have a stoked bunch of ten volunteers from Columbia, Augusta, and Atlanta working to make this Fall Kick-off Windfest a full-on event -- which it will be... but only IF YOU COME. We intend to make the effort worthwhile, regardless of the wind that day. So, won't you join us?

Lake Springs at Clark Hill has all facilities, parking, rigging area, our own beachsand-covered point, a playground steps away. Directions and a map are on my website at http://www.whitecapwindsurfing.com/places_to_sail/placestosail.html#ScottsFerry
Put it on your calendar now, but I'll be sending weekly reminders. I'll need you to REGISTER for this event -- but NOT yet. Registration will be on a Atlanta Boardsailing webpage that will be posted by end of next week, says the Webmaster. We need to know how many may show up to do what. (But, if you are just so stoked by the whole thing that you can't wait, return e-mail me now and I'll get you on the list and consider your registered. Tell me what activities, if any, you intend to participate in.)

WINDfest events will include:
== Swap Meet
== Racing, with prizes, (classes based on participation, suitable wind)
== Intermediate/Advanced Instructional Clinic (Renee Jenkins, instructor)
== Beginners Full-course instruction (Phil Duvic, certified instructor)
== Vintage/Homemade Gear parade, with prizes
== Beach Cookout, late afternoon, (w/ cow, dogs, chickens, and vegetable matter)
And other fun stuff, like:
"Tandemonium" riding ... New Equipment display/limited demo ... Pagan Wind Sacrifice ... and, mainly, hanging out with windsurfers from all over the region
The Wildwood Park Lakefest -- 5 easy minutes away by car from our WINDfest site -- will have some kid's rides, fireworks (9:00pm) and two live bands (contemporary and bluegrass, playing until 8pm).

C'mon over to the "border" lake for this windsurfing event! Your presence will make the scene! More details to come via e-mail over upcoming weeks, but, MAKE PLANS NOW to be there.
