Ever wanted your own OEM mast?

I figured there were places out there like this.

http://en.dodge-carbon.com.tw/carbon-mast.html

At least in the cycling industry, stuff made in Taiwan generally has a better rep than the mainland.

I was surprised that they make SDM any more so I looked at the Chinook website. Now I am doubly surprised - Chinook still makes and sells EPOXY SDM. For the 400 CM mast you only use once a year at OBX might be the way to go.

https://chinooksailing.com/collections/masts-epoxy/products/epoxy-fiberglass-sdm?variant=46952923530

"Product Details

Epoxy and Fiberglass make a strong economical mast.
Chinook Epoxy Fiberglass SDM masts fill the void left by the carbon craze.
Windsurfing doesn't have to be expensive to be fun!
2-Piece Constant Curve
SDM- Standard Diameter
Bags sold separately
1-Year Warranty"

Now all they need to do is make one piece aluminium masts.

Excuse me while I kiss the sky

I think I pretty much gave one of those away a couple of years ago. I guess they make good school masts. It wasn't that heavy and it doesn't matter as much if people bang them on the ground and leave them in the sun.

Given how long people kept looking for u-joints for Klepper boards, I imagine there will be a demand for SDMs for a while. A lot of race sails still specify SDMs.
