The forecast looks promising for East wind & warmer temperatures tomorrow (Thursday). Please post if you can go.

Re: East Wind Thursday

The models seem to have backed off. Available, though.

My reaction to "warmer temperatures tomorrow" and saw a high peaking at 50.

50 is the new "winter threshold" for Randy & Chris. Too bad the forecast has backed off.

50 and sunny used to be my new threshold but now it is 65+ and sunny.

Oh how things change!

Re: East Wind Thursday

The question is whether the 50 degrees arrives in time for there still to be any wind or not. I'm guessing it won't.

I'm on a roll now - Sunday windsurfed the river. Monday, kite/landboard at my nearby park. Tuesday/Wed landboard/kite at MAP (and I've got the video to prove it). Last two days the wind forecast was east 5-10 g 15 on NOAA, and 10 on Iwundsurf. In both cases it was greatly exceeded. There were times when the lake was literally filled with whitecaps both days - my guess is 10-20+. Of course, the temps in the low 30's would have made windsurfing a bit less pleasant than pavement boarding....

Right now its 39 and 13-18 so it probably would be sailable this am. I've tied up, but if it holds up, I might go this pm, should it warm up. Probably MAP or Tidwell.

Sunday - high 49 with dots.

Windy enough to plane. Cool enough to keep the riff-raff home.

Randy, it's impressive you get out so much. Not being retired, I pick and choose my days. The forecast now favors Sunday as the next day for good windsurfing. Probably too cold for the kiters.

Barrett, I think that would depend on whether your are kiting on land or water. I've found taking water out of the equation lowers my threshold to the 20's. In fact, I haven't found the lower limit yet. I do like nasty, cloudy days when rain is threatening - keeps the civilians off the parking lots. (Wm - civilians sounds much nicer than riff raff.)

Its now 49 and 9 - I think I'm going to MAP and windsurf, or paddle should the wind decide to take the afternoon off.

Oh and Barrett - I went just as much or more when I was working. You are not doing "working" right if you are held back by that. Crazy

Actually AJ - the civits as you call them only differ from us in one respect - they do not possess AI. AI is that artificial intelligence that tells us "its 39 and windy, in January - perfect day to go play in the lake", or "its a nice 50 degree day in January, the wind is SE at 9 and its only noon - it will probably hold up and I can sail my new windsup, or at least paddle it'' or more simply "windsports are really cool."

Well it was good day for paddling, but the wind did pretty much take the afternoon off.
