I-75 North to Rome/Canton Exit (Highway 20).
Head East (Right) for about 12 miles to Fields Chapel Rd.
Look for the Brown Corps Of Engineering Sign for Sweetwater Campground. Turn Right on Fields Chapel Road.
Follow Fields Chapel Road to Campground/Day Use area at road end.
Day use area will be on left at fork in road, campgound on right.

What wind directions, is this place best for? Also, I've never been there, can you fill in anymore details on it?

Best for SW as an alternative to old Hwy 41.
Al & I have been going there more frequently because there are no motorboats in your launch area. Its a less frequented campground site.

To be even more specific, it rained on 4th of July for about 20 minutes. All the beachcomers took off and left us by ourselves. Pretty nice to have the entire day use area to ourselves on a holiday weekend!
There is a large swim area. Adequate launch area to the right lets you wade out at chest level behind a line of trees that is a wind shadow. Get out beyond the tree line and you have a pretty wide area with an open area to the south.
