Creating a non-skid deck surface

Mimi,

Here is the info from the boardlady about her suggestions to resurface a slick board and give it a non-skid surface:
I am told the salt will cut you up if it is not dissolved all the way.
Hope this helps.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

if you don't want to invest in yet another paint product, sand the deck with 180 or 220 grit until it is uniformly dull, roll on another coat of your original paint and sprinkle salt into the wet paint. Next day, wash, dissolving the salt, which leaves little paint craters that last longer than ReDeck does.

Better yet, purchase "the Grip" by Nautix (Wardog at http://www.surfingsports.com can get it for you, and roll that on. Nice grip, and, since it it an LP, it will last.

Or yet another possibility, for an even more aggressive non-skid: get UV-resistant Epoxy (I buy mine from Fiberglass Hawaii), roll on a thin coat of that, and sprinkle Deck Dust (also from Fiberglass Hawaii) into it.

Patrick,
Thanks for the info. I'm following up on it. Hopefully, next time you see my board it will be non skid.

Patrick,
I ordered the Nautix Re-deck from Wardog and it came in with 2 formulas, one being a hardening agent. I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with painting this stuff on. The instructions call for a ratio mixture by grams and I'm thinking some kind of scale will be necessary to measure the correct amount of each solution. Does anyone have a clue?
Since I was so stoked, he sent me a very cool t-shirt from Surfingsports...!!!!!
See you at Galts tomorrow, it should be fun.

Re: Creating a non-skid deck surface

Eva's method with the fine "deck dust" from Fiberglass Hawaii definitely provides a non skid deck.
