Bigwinds Used Sails

Perhaps a bunch of rental gear just hit?

https://www.bigwinds.com/used-windsurf-sails?ps=60
Mostly Naish, Goya, North

Some demo stuff at Windance http://www.windance.com/Used-Gear-Used-Windsurf-Sails/

btw, both Sailworks and Northwave both have quiver deals so if you are buying a few sails, may be better to get new. Northwave is a custom sail maker well-regarded in the Gorge.

Edit: Looks like Secondwind Maui has stuff up too: http://secondwindmaui.com/index.php/used/windsurfing.html

Maui Sails has school sails cheap if you have someone in the family who needs an easy to handle sail. The biggest, 6.5, probably would be a nice SUP sail and is only $185 new https://www.mauisails.com/2015/inspire#buy-sail

I have always found that this is the best time of year to buy gear - so many close-outs and used rental gear hits the market. Word of warning on Windance - their shipping on used gear is really high!

I just got sail and a mast shipped to me for $35.
Is it really high?

I used to get sails shipped to me for $30-$35. Starting in 2018 it became $65 for a single sail (3.7). If I throw in a 370 mast, shipping jumps to $105!

So you bought something in the last few months?

Re: Bigwinds Used Sails

The trick is to call them up and ask them to stuff multiple sails in the same box. Even a 7.7 and 6.7 will fit into the same box. Biggrin

Shipping has gotten more expensive it seems. 430s and smaller seem to fit below a cut off. Isthmus shipped me a 430 for free but there's a surcharge for anything bigger. The cost of sending my foil mast+fuselage to FL was ridiculous because USPS and everyone else measures a "box" with WxHxD when my package was shaped like a T. Guy at Fedex gave me a break when I pointed out that other people were going to be using the my paid for space in the corners. I'd shipped the same mast a year ago USPS for $18 and now they wanted something like $50 for the exact same thing.

It really is worthwhile to watch for "Free shipping" offers. Your point stands though that shipping a 5 lbs mast or 7 lb sail is ridiculous.

Those Goya's look really nice, and good price for 2017 sails. Lots of people in the Gorge are on Goyas now and like them a lot for swell/waves.

With the BigWinds logo, its almost a sure bet that they are the demo/rental fleet, so I bet they would do a bit of a deal on several sails on an order.

Sails probably can be mailed cheaper than they quote. Most likely they are trying to make the shipping profitable as well. Of course, they do have to pay people to put sails in boxes, print labels, etc.

There is no off season.

In a UPS shipping center in Kansas.

Seriously, I have the weekend off - no plans - so literally could and would drive 5-6 hours in ANY direction if it would help. Nothing. Nada. Meanwhile, (not that I wish for one) hurricanes in California and the Mediterranean. wtf?

I bought 4.7 panter and 400 northsails mast last month (preparing for windy days). Shipping $35. But I called them before I placed my order.

Dang, that is good to know. Call ‘em! They lost a two sales from me based on their online shipping price.
