Race car stories - Porsche, Ford, and Ferrari

If you like race cars and their history, this guy tells the best stories. I could listen to him for hours.

Good stuff, Some of my best times in my younger years B.W. (Before windsurfing) were weekends spent at the racetracks. My local favorites were always the Super Bike race at Road Atlanta and NHRA in Commerce. Indy and F1 races top the list too. NASCAR is okay for the first 10 mins and the last 10 mins, the middle part is pretty boring though.

NASCAR from when it was really stock car racing. The beach race at Daytona is fascinating. I've never been to Darlington but we'd always pass it on the way to Florence, SC to visit cousins. The old southern tracks like Darlington, Rockingham, N. Wilkesboro were the heart of the sport. iirc, the third video is the Daytona beach race.

I'm putting a bunch here because you'll end up watching all of them. Biggrin

This should be a post of it's own. An amazing event, the guy from the original post at the top talks about a Cannonball run he organized that he's especially fond of - this from a guy that's done 11 of them. Instead of the best, fastest, coolest and most expensive cars, this run (the 50th anniversary of the first back in 1971) was limited to cars with 100 hp or less. Well, there were three cars that exceeded that from 1 to 25 hp but, generally, these cars are the mutts of the performance world from Priuses, old Saturns, econoboxes and even a Suzuki van with a 600cc motor. But, it was an absolute blast.

The competitors had a great time and the front runners stuck around to cheer the slower cars as they came in. Everyone had a great time.

So, why this post? Because this is what our regattas are like. It's not about being first. It's about just being there. I hope you get as much a kick out of this as I did.
