At dentist. Then VP.

Update: arrived Van Pugh 1:30PM. Solid whitecaps, looks like 20-25mph from WNW.

Re: monday 4/17

Any kiters going? Saw that Old Federal is closed. Is it possible to still get in? Not many or maybe any other places to launch and land on a W WIND…

Thanks,
Mel

I head that old Fed is open. Wind side on-shore at VP & Park has few people, so you might be able to launch here.

Re: monday 4/17

As advertised. 15-25 with gusts to 30. Barrett, Rhett, Gene, Mike, Chris V, Scott and I did Van Pugh duty. Robert came and snapped pics (I hope!).

Some debris in the water but not much boat traffic at all. Wind was gusty earlier and seemed to settle on the water later in the day. Fins were around 6.0 and foils around 4.

Solid day. 9/10. Good (Water is still chilly, though. Barrett measured 62 - colder than a couple of weeks ago.)

Thanks Barrett! Ended up finding 3 kiters and a windsurfer at Old Federal!: Dave D, Mike and Alejo (so?) Great wind without too many short gusts! Ended up fully and sometimes over powered on my 11m2 Pivot!

It was good to be back out there after 10 years of no kiting.

Welcome back. I thought that we hadn't seen you in a while. Glad you were able to get on the water. It was a very nice day.

Chris, great photo sequence of William’s smooth jibe entry. What a super day at Lanier! Glad Mel got out after a 10 year hiatus.

Notsomuch. Kinda like when you’re washing dishes and somebody slips one into the stack. Helps me visualize and cracks the code- feet first, then sail. Good

mInd that's just the way I do it. I think it's easier, though, on wider boards. A couple of things I noticed yesterday and looking around: note how big my arc is on this one, when way powered up, it's easy to bleed energy and take all the time you want with a big arc. On those 10-15 days? Not so much. Also, it's easy to get used to being very erect on a foil, not much need to bend the knees. It really helps, though, on a jibe.

If I could do anything differently on this one, I'd have kept my front arm a bit more extended but I may have been doing that in the bit right before the first frame. All the same, something for me to work on.

Again, appreciate someone stacking the dishes. Off topic - saw something funny on the internets the other day.

"In every partnership, there's one person that stacks the dishes in the dishwasher like a Swedish architect. And, the other like a racoon on meth."

My wife strenuously objected to this - she said more like a racoon on Valium. Lol
