Sun/Mon 4-9/10

A couple of "wedge" days. Strong NE winds with cooler temps along the eastern side of the mtns. It'll actually be warmer Saturday up in Chattanooga than in West Point which usually is far enough south in these conditions to stay warm. Sunday it lets up a bit. Highs on Lanier around 60 but about 6 degrees warmer to the SW. Saturday will be cold (mid 40s) and wet.

Conditions will persist through Monday.

Looking at windy and going through Friday on both Euro and HRRR (essentially high rez short term GFS), it's a mess. Lots of showers and wind direction changing from NE to westerly with the boundary at times in the afternoon over north GA. And your timing would have to be spot on between showers. Not to say there won't possibly be bits of time when it's sailable but I can't suggest anyone realistically invest time in going unless you happen to be visiting VP on business and have your gear in the van. (That happens, right?)

At the moment, forecast currently looking like Friday afternoon having a NE Wind with cloudy sky and around 60 deg

Maybe conduct business at Vanns?

Yeah, the mid-day dithering back and forth seems to have faded. Afternoon looks more consistent but it'll still be a day of keeping an eye on the radar. Not sure I can make it up but I'll try. Def a day for Vanns.

Decent wind at the river this morning - not the best thing for rowing but I managed to get a good and fun workout. Hope it’s good for you all at the lake.

So far the wind hasn't even been in the right direction let alone the strength.....If it doesn't get right in hurry 400 Northbound will be a park lot.

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.

fwiw, I've actually encountered "services" there. Came in one time to the grassy area and beach in the middle of a baptism.

I met Randy and Haizar at Galts. Arrived at
12:30 to really perfect wind and flat water,
but by the time we got in the water it turned off, we all stuck it out till 4.

Re: Sun/Mon 4-9/10

Hamdi, Gene and Barrett beat me to VP. So did an entire congregation who were celebrating the day and then had a cookout. Lots of folks but all seemed super chill and nice.

Hamdi cursed us. Lol The wind dropped too much for his 5.2 so he came in an rigged an 8. Meanwhile Barrett came in as I was going out saying how the wind had picked up again. Mike drove in while I was getting suited up. It proceeded to be like 7 gusting to 20+ for the day. Since I'd rigged a 6.9, decided to bleed the power by sailing up to Old Fed and Sunrise Marina. Sketchy coming back in the gusts. Saw Ed, JB (orange F-One wing) and another winger learning with jetski in attendance. Thought I was sailing with Gene for a bit back at VP but turned out to be Rhett.

Still trying to figure out new board so jibes are "a work in progress". I need to move some stuff around. Board is ridiculously slippery so 20 powers it up very, very well on a reach. Thanks, Hamdi... Actually, great to see him out and taking the tiger by the tail. Mad respect. Good

Not as much boat traffic as I feared. I'm sure the chilly temps kept some away. But, it is strange to see so many more people in the park and on the water.

Expect to be at Vanns at 11. Chillier than I prefer and the afternoon but, between FX and camping trips, likely last session for a couple weeks for me

Thank you William! Should be getting my new dirt bike this week - looking forward to spending time with that and camping /remote working next week from a cool state park with nice kayaking and hiking.

Have fun. Hope the wind is good for you. And, hope you enjoy the time away from water. Good
