Thursday 2/23

Morning low of 65° has my attention Good
Wondering what the water/air differential has to be for the dome effect to happen. Do we have data on this? Have we already covered it? Can we get a grant to study this??

Guessing 15 degrees or more?

I'll try to be earlier rather than later for once.

Heading to Van Pugh within the half hour. Arrival around 11:30. Yesterday, being close to the windward shore paid off.

1-1:30. Wind slowly picks up to a nice 10-15. Barrett and I foil. Able to link a bunch of flying g jibes on 6.9/1000 wing and head upwind.
1:45. Splash last jibe trying to foil through not enough wind. Begin slow ride home.
2:15. Enjoy lunch sitting with Barrett. Hamdi missed most of the action, sadly, electing to head back in just before wind wound up. He's still happy.
Not the day I'd hoped for but once in the air, I was a happy camper.

Re: Thursday 2/23

Hamdi, William & I headed out at Van Pugh with 3mph from the SW. Why ? Because the forecast called for wind even though it was almost calm. Once we got away from shore, some dark clouds passed overhead with a few drops of light rain and it picked up enough to foil. We had a good time, and the sun came out long enough to dry my sail before heading home.

That's a great picture. Just shows what a dummy I am. Lol
Normal people don't look at that and think: yeah, gonna be lying today!

Edit: typo, typo, typo!

Should have been: Normal people don't look at that and think: yeah, gonna be flying today!

You might be surprised, but a lot of "normal" people think SUP is cool and exciting.

Nice photo! Captures hopeless launch seeking forecast wind.
