Looking at options today Thursday, High falls looked like 73f and 15 mph. For a window of time today according to windy. Does anyone ever go out there? I don't remember what their rules are.

I’ve never windsurfed at high falls, Juliette isn’t that much farther south.

Yes I meant to say Juliet. Did they have some kind of restrictions there?

You will have to launch from the boat ramp if you aren’t camping.
It’s not real hard to get out of the cove on SW-W but NW makes a brutal wind shadow.
If you’re camping you can launch from the pavilion, It’s good on everything except the East’s.

The only lake restrictions are 25hp limit on boats.

A light day on Lanier. Around 4, we got some cloud cover and got a few rides and then another ride or two later on. Big sail, 1000 cm2 race wing. Wind shut off totally after I came in. There is something so very cool about foiling low drag kit on absolutely flat water without a single whitecap. It was enough to overcome low number of rides for the day.

Tomorrow will be the mirror opposite. A lot cooler, a lot windier. I'll try to arrive around noon because of the temps dropping in the afternoon.

I'm such a wimp. I find myself looking for warmer options more and more. Clark Hill 10- 11 degrees warmer today but 1 hour further away. 59f solo or 49f with the cool cats? Decisions decisions

If I had the extra couple hours to burn... have made trips to Hartwell and West Point just for those reasons. One of the best sessions ever on Hartwell with Langdon just before Covid. It was 53-55 while Lanier was 47.

Clark Hill Marina on Old Lincoln Road it's a BIG wide open area 58f.

Interesting is a long low level land bridge with flat water on one side and white caps on the other. Might try both sides

You chose wisely. Freezin' and breezin' on Lanier today. 43 degrees at Van Pugh. Langdon took some pics with Barrett's camera. Barret, Chris P (iron man award today), Rhett and I went out. Langdon sat it out and Robert came by to ask if I'd lost my mind. Gusts in the mid 30s at times. Too much for 4.0 and foil so made a few runs and called it a day. Was waterstarting easily in the lulls.

Re: Thur/Fri 2/16-17

It was warmer and pretty steady wind for the most part.

I miss read the wind speed partly because the size of the lake threw off my perspective so I went out on a 5m. It must have been blowing 30. I didn't think I was going to make it back to the launch. I wasn't worried about a walk of shame, but more of a hitchhiking Journey of Shame to get back.

After that beat down I used my virgin 3/4m wing and all went well from there.

Nice wide open lake for sure, and flat terrain all around it. Nice little adventure.

Re: Thur/Fri 2/16-17

Barrett,
I've posted what pics I had from Feb 17th.
Robert's Onedrive

There are only a couple of video's of William added. The wind was buffeting the camera too much to shoot video, so mainly pics.
I got there too early, so had to leave soon after everyone hit the water.
Nice pics by Langdon.
Thanks
Robert

You didn't miss much. Between the cold and all of us being overpowered, there were only a limited number of runs. A bunch of pics of me swimming, though Lol That's the most waterstarts I've done since Greece.
