"What a day… 5 hours on the water, 127km sailed, so many runs, so many crashes (hard crashes) to try to break the 40 knots barrier on a windfoil…
And still, this f***ing barrier have not fallen yet ! What a frustration after spending so much energy on the water, using all my mental strength to go run after run m, tightening my muscles to get the best acceleration possible …
And it comes out to be a 39,86 on 2s ! 🥲 So close… Just so close…
For those wondering, yes I did over 40 knots on 1s (40,08) but the goal from the beginning is to get over 40 knots on 2s… so that’s obviously an achievement, but not the one I’m aiming for !
Definitely, the new @phantomfoiling R95 Foil mast clearly brings some extra glide as I’ve been able to heat an amazing number of high speeds that day ! I’ve never been so easy to get to 36-37 knots before starting to bear away for the slingshot. Just an amazing feeling with so much adrenaline 🤪
Here is a little sum up of my day in numbers :
•127km sailed in 5 hours
•34 proper runs and slingshots
•26 times over 37 knots
•20 times over 38 knots (!!)
•8 times over 39 knots (!!!!)
•38,41 knots on 10s (absolute best)
•38,22 knots on the 5*10s
•37,20 knots on 500m (without even trying to do 500m)
•38,26 knots on 250m (!!)
• 6 crashes including 2 over 39 knots…
For the gear, I was using the new R71 board (so proud of this design !), with 4,5 Rmk2 sail, and with the ultimate foil combo for speed : 350mk2 FW - 100 PWA Fuselage -175BW and R95 foil mast.
So, the project 40 knots challenge is not over and still on going ! I’m really confident we’re going to pass this step with the new Infinite Foil coming up really soon ! Can’t wait for it 🔥
Flying soon to Lanzarote for another IQFoil Training block ! ✈️
Merci @fabrice.816 pour les photos !"

Man. I feel even slower now...But congratulations to Nico and Phantom. They really are pushing it out there. I bet they'll hit it soon.
Also looks like he was using the breakaway harness bar.
Highway speeds on a foil. Agreed.
For those not aware - a French fellow has designed a nifty quick release harness bar: https://www.free-ride-addicted.fr/e-boutique/boucle-free-fall/
Know someone who has one and a bunch of us want one but they don't come cheap.
He was, indeed, using that harness

WindsurfingTV on YT has some video
Nico quit his job as Starboard's Brand Manager, BTW. (I'm not sure that that job was, whether it was all their products or just windsurf/foil.)
What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
Different Nicos. Nico Prien (German) is the one who left Starboard. Nico Goyard (French) is still with Phantom and they are working hard to reach 40.
Ooops
What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
No worries.
