High of only 45 but breeze forecast. Anyone game? I'd aim for around 2. Tomorrow is a touch warmer with high around 51. I'd be willing to wait a day if that's the consensus. I almost did a backflip off the board yesterday when my cold hands missed the boom exiting a jibe.

I’m up for sailing tomorrow afternoon at VP.

I bagged today. Just wasn't feeling it with temps around 45 with the prospect of tomorrow. Seeing someone post here might have swayed me but it was easier just to drink a warm coffee at home. See you tomorrow afternoon.
What time are you guys thinking? As you guys have great experience with the FX, what would be your expectation in terms of wind speed?
I'll remember that when I'm bobbing around on the lake sometime buzzed by fishing and pontoon boats: Well, at least I'm getting experience.
Seriously, the dot forecast shows the best around 2-5 and if Wed is a good benchmark, it should stay fresh until nearly dusk. One caveat is that the wind is forecast to be slightly NW which means late in the day, if there are few clouds, you'll be staring straight into the sun on the return leg to VP. Bring sun glasses and don't be surprised if you have to cut your session short to save your retina from burning out. I'm "guessing" 8-15 with some higher gusts. An optimistic guess is closer to 10-20. Time for you to start thinking about a foil.

Forecast and current wind have puked. Will decide around 12:45 whether to go.
Update- seeing Gilmer swing from north to southwest in 5 minutes is not encouraging
Pretty much time to stick a fork in it. There's always tomorrow
This just seems perverse. Gilmer:

Meanwhile at McCollum. (I can't see how both of these can be right.)

We've already seen it a couple of times this season that Allatoona and Lanier get different weather. Looking at windy, Sat the wind is Lanier eastward towards Hartwell while Sunday it's a bit of wind descending off the west side of the Appalachians. Almost looks like Lanier is wind shadowed because at higher elevations (e.g 5k ft), the wind is more consistent across the area.
Shame there's not much water in Allatoona right now.
It's not the place to take your foil. BTW - the Beach Park will be closing Dec. 1. Reopening is planned for March 1 2023, but a guy from the COE told us that is the plan, but could change. The boat ramp is always open and might actually be the best place to launch now anyway.
