Wed Nickel and a Quarter (5/25)

Looks like an early session at Van Pugh on east. I have to pick up something from the Flowery Branch HD so need to be on that side of the lake.

Friday looks good, too.

If I can pull away from work and school stuff for a few hrs tomorrow, I am considering a real early (like 7am-ish) session at Vanns.

I don’t feel like climbing Mount Vann so it’s VP early bird for me.
I’ll bring the Ezzy Tiger 5.5 if anyone wants to see it or try it.

Pretty good 1.5 session at Mount Vanns (don’t know where that comes from but going with it - when in Rome…). 13 miles, 5.7 (smallest I brought) outhauled very flat. Shorties, not cold at all. Not sure about the reverse current thing …maybe that’s a good thing.

Wish I could stay longer but no need to get greedy with everything going on

I'm heading to Van Pugh, departing house in Decatur at 1:30PM. Hope to have company out on the water.

Vann's was great, cool and breezy - and even built some later.
- Hamdi was leaving when I arrived.
- Alejo and David D came and kited. Alejo foiled and David foiled and twin tipped.
- I went out twice and made a jibe - maybe first real real one.
- Chris P headed out when I was leaving and was on a small wsb and planing - not sure if he switched to his foilboard after.

Good to see the gang and I appreciated the conversation!

When I arrived at VP, William was nailing foiling jibes with a 5.4 sail. Gene was packing up. l windsurfed until Chris V arrived, then converted to foiling. Conditions were great as the wind picked back up & we avoided the rain.

Re: Wed Nickel and a Quarter (5/25)

I sandwiched in between the early crew (Gene, Alan both on 5.7s) and the late crew (Barret fin 8.5 and foil 6.7 and Chris V foil 6.5). Had just a crazy fun day at VP. Usually I'm not a fan of VP on a NE but the water was delightfully flat and the gusts just right to rip into some nice carving jibes. Tried a few "alternate" turns and got myself wet but I should keep at it. Also saw Gene do a jibe or two and very excited for him as well as to all those going out and giving it a go. Chris said he's super close.

Later, Chris, Haizar and I took late shift crewing on a keelboat in the Wed night races. Fun and breezy even with the pouring rain. We're lucky to be on a fun but competent boat and the windsurf crew are learning a lot. Feel very lucky that I was able to experience two very cool parts of the sailing world today.

Sounds like fun, were spinnakers involved?

I might have said that wrong. What I meant was- I'm getting this much CLOSER (holding my fingers 1mm apart). At this rate, I will be the first to TRY a foiling jibe and the last to MAKE one. Wacko

Barrett's pretty much got it. Good

Spinnakers were. Chris and Haizar, for being windsurfers, are becoming part of a crack foredeck team.

I grew up with whisker poles. Everything forward of the mast to me is like
