East Wind this week?

Yesterday, NWS showed some east wind all this week, but since has knocked it back to Mon, Thurs and Friday. But I did get an hour in this morning on 5.7 and I76 foil at Van Pugh (10-13 mph?). So keep an eye on it, If it blows, I plan to go, probably a morning thing.

If the weather does as WeatherCat says, I am going to Vanns around 3:30 on Thursday

I hope to be there. Currently in Iowa a with great wind - high but nothing to cause houses to collapse fortunately. If my early am flight to ATL doesn’t throw any wrenches, should be at Vanns by early afternoon

Vanns. Water is warm enough to try some things that I put off all winter.

Neil and I will head over to Vanns as well this afternoon. I'll get there later though.

80/20 - it's a rule and it's the forecast.

Tomorrow looks interesting, too.

Can we all take a moment and appreciate this comment? 5.7 in 10-13?

Not that long ago, it would have been

Vanns tavern report. It's a beautiful day...... and I hate beautiful days. Not much happening. Maybe a little wind way out in the middle, there's North in it.

Lunch and a nap? Wake me if you get here and there's wind.

Re: East Wind this week?

So do we still be believe the "easterlies die by noon" rule or do we now think east winds can last all day, and we can wait till the afternoon to show up? I'm still following the old rule, but, maybe I'm wrong. BTW GVille reported winds 10-20 today from 930 - 1230. Of course foiling has lowered wind minimums for any given sail size. Has foiling created loophole in the rule, has the wind changed or what?

The morning rule is still the norm - for sure.

Whether or not things pick up a litte later this afternoon remains to be seen.

In the meantime, I am officially cutting bait and heading to trails for mtn biking. Thanks to Gene for the live report. Hope it does come up for those making the trip to the lake and showing off their patience genes!

Re: East Wind this week?

For our foiling elite it might have been ok this PM. There were only 3 gusts reported from 1230 on, but 14 double figures winds report (or one every 15-20 minutes.) With mad pumping skills, and sufficient amounts of monofilm and carbon above and below the deck, who knows - single digit foiling could have been enjoyed by those (or is it he?) so equipped throughout the afternoon.

Either NOAA/ Lagrange airport is way off on their Northeasterly wind reports or I can foil in 7mph now. Biggrin
Caught a nice afternoon side onshore breeze on the Alabama side.
